There was a complaint from a worried resident, but police were able to keep the peace." - Victoria, ride coordinator

Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA - (1st ride Feb 13, 2005) web site "We all stayed in a minimum of G-strings or T-back thongs because there were about 10 county deputies and park rangers keeping close eye on us all along our bike route and they handed us a copy of the park rules before the ride began." "We had 20 people involved, 13 bike riders and the rest were walkers who helped in our cause. Now if we can count the police that were there we could add about another 15 people. They had about ten police cars and about 5 unmarked cars that we could see. You can add another 5 people by adding the park personnel that was watching us so we didn't go nude. Before the ride they (a sheriff and park supervisor) gave us a copy of the rules for the park and strongly suggested that there would be no nudity." - John, ride coordinator
Tamaaki Makaurau/Auckland, Aotearoa/New Zealand - Feb 13, 2005 website | images Simon Oosterman, the ride coordinator, missed out on the Auckland ride as he was arrested at the start for refusing a police order to cover up. He was arrested for alleged indedent exposure. All 21 or so participants had to wear bottoms after that arrest, but the ride went on. Despite the police intervention, riders were allowed to go topfree on their ride from Symonds St to Karangahape Rd. "We were trying to draw attention to the indecent exposure suffered by Aucklanders to car fumes and the lives lost as a result," he told the Herald after being released on bail. "What's really indecent is the fact that 250 people die in Auckland each year from vehicle-related pollution," he said. "Cars rule Auckland's streets to the detriment of community spirit, human health and the environment." Mr Oosterman was also annoyed that police did not allow the convoy to cycle down Queen St, diverting it along Karangahape Rd instead, under close escort by two patrol cars.
