Daniel's report:

Seattle ride went very well, better than I expected, honestly. Early estimates are at 65-80 riders. Very good for the first year. One 13 year old kid. I'm guessing under 20 women, but I don't know. The surprise we had for the event was after going to the Seattle Center International Fountain, we began another long trek through multiple districts to the South including Downtown, International District, Central District, Capital Hill and we just kissed the U-District before returning to Gas Works Park. Entire ride may have lasted 1.5-2.5 hrs and we covered a large area of central urban Seattle communities. Did I mention the bodypainting party was in the park itself? That started around 9 am. We didn't even need to hide out somewhere else once the riders and public began swarming the area. We did have an unexpected problem with a large number of clothed non-participants hanging around taking pictures of those getting painted up. We will definitely try to find a better solution to this for next year's ride.

Press coverage was very positive. TV and radio crews were doing interviews with several of the participants, and it was very fun. At least three very supportive articles appeared in the Seattle Times with a connection to the ride.

A few people joined in for a splash at the fountain, and at least one rider decided to join the ride at that point. The Seattle Center put up signage around the area saying there was going to be some nudity. I spoke with a few SC representatives and they were quite supportive.

Talked with undercover cops we discovered after the ride and they had one complaint they received. I gave them my info in case they wanted to schedule an arrest. I told them I was leaving to go to Canada and they said that was ok, they never followed up.

Thanks to everyone who helped, showed up, and gave us support! We had some amazing people come forward to coordinate different aspects of the event.

[ Info below is about the 2004, for info about this year's event please click here. Please note This year's times and route will be different than what is below]

Morning - Bodypainting party for those who wish to make their own "minimums" or get painted up. Bring your own body paint, supplies, and bring an artist buddy to paint you up. Please use NON-TOXIC paint. Supplies can be purchased at Display & Costume locally. Expect to be photographed when in public. I've heard some artists are coming at 11 am, hoping to get others there before then.

11:30 AM - 12 Noon - Meet at Gasworks Park, at the south end of Seattle's Wallingford District.

12:10 or so PM - Begin ride on Burke Gilman Trail after leaving Gasworks Park, then proceed to the Fremont District, cross under the Aurora Bridge/Highway 99, go under Fremont Bridge, turn right/North to go up Phinney Ave North two blocks to N 36th Street (arterial), go East/right on 36th towards Fremont Ave. This is the Center of Fremont (or the Center of the Universe as the locals say) as marked by a sign in the median that you pass (to your left), stay right at intersection of N 35th/36th and Fremont Ave.

Turn right and proceed southbound on Fremont Ave., after a block you may see the famous Waiting for the Interurban sculpture on your left, continue south across the Fremont Bridge into the Queen Anne District.

Go down Dexter Ave N. (some went down Westlake after getting a flat and made very good time) as you enter the Westlake portion of the Cascade District, continue to the Seattle Center. Enter the campus along Harrison
Street (between the Experience Music Project (EMP) and Memorial Stadium. Make a brief stop at the Seattle Center's International Fountain and then leave the same way we came in. (Update: We have been asked not to ride around inner part of fountain when people are present for safety reasons, but we can walk bikes) (Note the Flag Pavilion in south portion of the picture no longer exists.)
